Reports to: Vice President of Academic Affairs

Time Requirement: Full-time, salaried, exempt

Job Summary:

The Director of Student Life mentors, encourages, and supports leaders for gospel ministry both within the church and for the sake of the world.  This person is instrumental in supporting students through their experience at Trinity Anglican Seminary, working with students, faculty, and administration to form a flourishing community that reflects God’s desires for life together. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to help students transition to seminary, advocate for students and their families with the administration, support and encourage student-initiated events, mentor, and counsel students, and connect students to needed resources including job opportunities following graduation.   The Director of Student Life is part of a larger team of staff and faculty who seek to guide the healthy formation (biblical, theological, spiritual, pastoral missional) of each of our students here at Trinity Anglican Seminary.

 


Primary Duties:

Student Life Administration

  • Coordinate, with student involvement, programs to build Christian community among students
  • Oversee administration of the Student Life Office
  • Guide personal and spiritual formation in coordination with the Chaplain
  • Represent and advocate for Students
  • Assist International Students

Ministry Apprenticeship Administration: Vocational Formation

  • Oversee the establishment of Ministry Apprenticeship sites for Trinity MDiv students and place middler/senior students in appropriate sites
  • Connect students to a Spiritual Director
  • Meet three times a year with Site Supervisors and Spiritual Directors

Placement Coordination

  • Connect students to summer placements and other ministry opportunities while in school
  • Host employers who come to campus to recruit students

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Possess strong gifts for pastoral care and a heart for the formation of students
  • Knowledge of the ordination processes in Anglican jurisdictions
  • Knowledge of the denominational and diocesan structures of Anglican jurisdictions

Education & Experience

  • Master’s Degree in divinity, theology, or ministry, required
  • Experience in teaching and/or campus ministry desirable
  • Alumnus of Trinity School for Ministry preferred

Personal Qualifications

  • Christian ethics and integrity
  • Commitment to Jesus Christ
  • Ability to interact pleasantly with faculty, staff, students, donors, and visitors

Working Conditions/Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to:

  • Remain in a stationary position approx. 70 percent of the time
  • Occasionally move about, inside the office, to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Constantly operate a computer and general office machines
  • Ability to work a flexible, full-time schedule. Most duties will occur during regular daylight/weekday shifts.
