History and Theology of Holy Orders

Course Description

This course will examine the history and theology of holy orders from apostolic times until the present, as seen through the lens of the Anglican tradition. Students will be encouraged to think theologically about the ministry of holy orders and how they relate to the church’s mission. Particular attention will be given to the present debate within the Anglican Communion concerning who are the appropriate candidates for receiving holy orders.
