Visiting with John and Susan Yates

Tuesday and Wednesday, April 21-22

Fifty years ago, Trinity’s first Dean-President, Bishop Alf Stanway, was collected from the Pittsburgh airport by John and Susan Yates. John drove Alf and his wife to Sewickley, near St Stephen’s, where John Yates was assistant to the Rector, John Guest. Both Johns appear in this 1976 photo with their colleague John Howe, who later became the Bishop of Central Florida.

All three Johns subsequently played a vital role in the growth of Biblical Anglicanism across America and have wonderful testimonies to share. Deuteronomy 8:3 highlights the Biblical theme of holding fast to God’s work in history - “Remember how the Lord your God led you all the way in the wilderness these forty years.” Remembering is so important, yet our busy lives make it hard to find time for this kind of reflection. We know that places spark memories, and conversations prompt reflection.

This is why we are inviting you to join John and Susan Yates as they return to this corner of Pennsylvania.
