The Church-Based Pathway is designed for students rooted in their local Anglican churches who want access to Trinity’s academic excellence and community.
Most courses are completed online, with MDiv students required to come to Ambridge twice a year for week-long, in-person intensives that foster connection and hands-on learning. This flexible format combines digital innovation with the warmth and tradition of Trinity’s formation, ensuring students are prepared and supported at every step.

Mentored courses are designed to integrate academic learning with hands-on ministry experience in a student’s local church. Each student works with an approved mentor who walks alongside them throughout the course. Students complete nine competencies and related demonstrations. The professor assesses competencies that are primarily academic in nature, while the mentor evaluates practical, hands-on demonstrations carried out within the student’s ministry context, helping bridge classroom learning and real-world formation.
