Other Financial Aid

External Scholarships

Numerous groups have scholarship funds to support theological education. Students are encouraged to apply for scholarships offered by their denominations, provinces, dioceses, congregations, local community foundations, fraternal societies, and state-based education organizations. Many small or local organizations fail to attract applications and have excess funds to distribute. Here is a link to external scholarship opportunities of which Trinity is aware.

VA Education Benefits

Trinity is a Veterans Affairs (VA) Institution of Higher Learning (IHL) facility (facility code 3-1-9751-38). VA eligible students must present a VA Certificate of Eligibility to the Director of Financial Aid to receive VA Education Benefits. VA Education Benefits may be used for a VA approved degree or diploma program. VA Education Benefits may not be used for non-credit programs. Students must produce a VA Certificate of Eligibility by the first day of class in order for their enrollment to be certified for VA Education Benefits.

Private Loans

Trinity does not certify private student loans. However, most banks offer personal loans that may be used to assist qualified borrowers in funding a theological education. Carefully review all terms and conditions of any loan.

Military Tuition Assistance

Trinity does not accept Military Tuition Assistance (TA). However, a Trinity Scholarship award may exceed TA limits ($250 per credit hour, annual cap of $4,500 for Army, Navy, Marine Corp, and Coast Guard).

In-School Deferment

Trinity does not offer federal student loans. However, students enrolled at least half-time who have preexisting federal student loans are entitled to in-school deferment. If you are enrolled at least half-time at Trinity, contact financialaid@tas.edu, so that your enrollment can be reported for in-school deferment. Trinity will also certify enrollment for any offered deferment or forbearance of private student loans.
