June Intensives 2025 – Week One – June 2-6, 2025
For Anglicans the Book of Common Prayer stands second only to the Holy Scriptures in importance. Discovering the history, centrality and genius of the Book of Common Prayer is the aim of this course. Learn why the Book of Common Prayer is the key to understanding Anglicanism’s distinctives. Learn from a lifelong Anglican and classmates about the lex orandi, lex credendi tradition (“how you pray is what you come to believe”) that distinguishes Anglicanism from the confessional and free church expressions of Western Christianity.
Small town boy, for whom God had big plans… He met Jesus in confirmation class at age 10, received a call to priesthood at 13, made an evangelical decision (to always trust God’s Word) at 18, married Nara at 21, served on campuses for eighteen years (where encounters with the Holy Spirit reshaped his ministry), and was elected from the floor to be Bishop of Pittsburgh at 47, almost three decades ago. “Father Bob” was leader of the movement that became the Anglican Church in North America, and was unanimously elected its first archbishop in 2009. A global leader among orthodox Anglicans since Lambeth 1998, Archbishop Bob is a “convicted Anglican” and architect of the Book of Common Prayer (2019).
