An introduction to the theology and history of Christian liturgical worship that traces how prayer, sacrament, and the church year shape a life rooted in Word and table. With a focused study of the Book of Common Prayer—its development, structure, and pastoral use—you will learn how Anglican liturgy forms Christian belief and practice, and how to lead worship that is biblically grounded, theologically clear, and hospitable to your congregation.
The Rev. Ben Jefferies has been ministering in the ACNA as a priest since 2014. He served on the Liturgy Task Force that produced the Book of Common Prayer (2019), and was the book’s typographer. Fr. Ben has taught Prayerbook and Liturgics at Trinity since 2023, and also has lectured on Liturgics, Spirituality, and Church History at Beeson Divinity School, Nashotah House, and Christ Our Redeemer Seminary (Auburn, AL). He is the editor of the St. Bernard Breviary, and is working on a D.Phil in the UK on Edward Pusey’s theology of repentance. He presently lives in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, with his wife and three daughters, and is serving as a hospice chaplain.
