
The Kitchen Manager role is far more than food service. It is ministry through hospitality. In a seminary setting, shared meals are one of the primary ways our community forms, relationships deepen, and students experience care during a demanding season of preparation for ministry. This position helps create the daily rhythm of fellowship that sustains our campus life.
The person who will thrive in this role is someone who sees hospitality as a calling. They are organized and dependable, attentive to detail and safety, yet relational and warm. They enjoy leading a team, stewarding resources wisely, and creating an environment where people feel known and cared for. Most importantly, they understand that excellence in everyday tasks can be a powerful expression of Christian service.
The Kitchen Manager leads the Seminary’s food service ministry, creating an environment of hospitality, fellowship, and care through the preparation and service of shared meals. This role combines the practical management of kitchen operations with the relational ministry of community building, nourishing both body and spirit by providing excellent, safe, and efficient food service while mentoring student workers in the values of teamwork, generosity, and hospitality.
Demonstrated experience (3+ years preferred) in food service or kitchen management, preferably in an institutional, hospitality, or ministry-related setting
Current Pennsylvania food safety certification or ability to obtain certification upon hire
Strong organizational and leadership skills, with experience supervising others
Ability to plan menus, manage budgets, and coordinate multiple tasks efficiently
Commitment to the Seminary’s mission and to modeling servant leadership through daily work
Bachelors degree preferred, but not required.
Previous experience in a restaurant, with a caterer or similar
