The Rev. Alex Banfield Hicks sees Trinity as a seedbed, from the Latin seminarium, growing the next generation of church leaders. He became a Christian studying History at the University of Oxford, where his journey toward ministry began. After academic research and teaching, he spent seven years in university ministry across Milan, Exeter, and Oxford. Following his MDiv, he served eight years as Director of Youth Ministry at Church of the Ascension in Pittsburgh, where he was ordained. Throughout these twenty years, the Lord has used him to grow ministries and develop leaders.
Alex's work ensures Trinity gathers the best future leaders of the church while encouraging growth among donors whose gifts make it possible to send students into ministry equipped and debt-free. He sees Trinity's heart in the daily office prayed as community and in prayers before team meetings. As Trinity's founder, the Rt. Rev. Alf Stanway, would say: "Pray last, and get nowhere fast."
What Alex loves most is singing in chapel, eating in the commons, and laughing in team meetings. He prays students graduate with formation for effective ministry, sent with friends who will encourage them through the years ahead. He loves playing soccer and tennis with his kids, accompanying his wife on piano, and watching Liverpool win!
