Founding Archbishop, Anglican Church in North America

The Most Rev. Robert William Duncan, D.D., served as founding Archbishop of the Anglican Church in North America and Seventh Bishop of Pittsburgh for twenty years. A cradle Anglican formed by three prayer books, Archbishop Bob has devoted fifty-three years of ordained ministry to parish priesthood, university chaplaincy, and leading the Anglican realignment to Biblical orthodoxy. As principal architect of the Book of Common Prayer (2019), for which he now serves as Custodian, he has shaped the worship and identity of a generation of Anglicans.

Archbishop Duncan's passion for prayer book spirituality drives his teaching at Trinity, where he has been involved for three decades. He helps students discover the genius, peculiarity, and missional relevance of the prayer book tradition for the Global Church in the 21st century, equipping them for faithful ministry in a rapidly changing church landscape.

As Founder and Patron of the Anglican Relief and Development Fund, Archbishop Duncan continues championing the church's call to serve the most vulnerable. He remains passionate about Trinity's strategic role in forming leaders for North American and global Anglicanism.

Archbishop Duncan holds the M.Div. from General Theological Seminary and honorary doctorates from General Seminary, Nashotah House, and Reformed Episcopal Seminary, with Trinity conferring a D.D. in 2025.
