The Rev. Dr. Jukka Kääriäinen serves as President of the North American Lutheran Seminary, which partners closely with Trinity in Ambridge as its main residential hub. Over the past 25 years, he has served the global Lutheran church across three continents: Taiwan, North America, and Finland. That cross-cultural journey has shaped everything about how he leads, from church planting and pastoral ministry to theological education and mission agency leadership.
Jukka sees the NALS partnership with Trinity as something more than academic. The shared life on campus, the meals together, the rhythms of chapel, all of it gives tangible expression to the generous Lutheran confessionalism the NALS wants to foster in its students. What he loves most about Trinity life is exactly that: the communal life together.
His hope for students is a deep rootedness in the Lutheran tradition, enriched by what other Christian traditions have to offer. When he's not writing or leading, you'll find him playing soccer, hiking, swimming in ice cold water, reading mystery novels, or spending summers in beautiful Finland with his family.
