Trinity Anglican Seminary is delighted to announce the appointment of The Rev. Alex Banfield Hicks as the new Director of Recruitment and Church Relations. In this pivotal role, The Rev. Banfield Hicks will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring recruitment strategies designed to attract and enroll students at Trinity Anglican Seminary.

The Director of Recruitment and Church Relations plays a crucial part in shaping the future of the institution by fostering relationships with potential students, ecclesiastical leaders, and academic institutions. Collaborating closely with the Director of Admissions, The Rev. Banfield Hicks will ensure timely and efficient application processing, admissions, and enrollment. Additionally, The Rev. Banfield Hicks will cultivate connections with regional, national, and international audiences to drive strategic student recruitment initiatives.

Dean President, The Very Rev. Bryan C. Hollon, Ph.D., expressed his enthusiasm about The Rev. Banfield Hicks joining the Trinity team, stating, “We are very happy to have Alex Banfield Hicks joining our team. Alex is well-known to many in the Trinity community, and he comes to us highly recommended. He is energetic, strategic, and deeply committed to our mission, which is exactly what we need in our recruiting efforts. I look forward to working with Alex in the years ahead.”

With a remarkable background in ministry and leadership, The Rev. Alex Banfield Hicks brings valuable experience to Trinity Anglican Seminary. Most recently, he served as the Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministries at Church of the Ascension in Pittsburgh, PA, a cardinal parish in the Anglican Diocese of Pittsburgh. During his tenure, The Rev. Banfield Hicks successfully built a dynamic team and mobilized the church to develop an Anglican middle and high school youth ministry. The significant growth in weekly attendance from the mid-20s to nearly 100 reflects Rev. Banfield Hicks’ ability to attract and engage young individuals and families.

Prior to his time at Church of the Ascension, The Rev. Banfield Hicks served as UCCF’s (Universities and Colleges Christian Fellowship) Christian Persuaders Coordinator in Oxford, UK. There, he led a national initiative called ‘Christian Persuaders,’ which focused on finding, training, and placing new apologists/evangelists for campus ministry outreach events.

Interim Academic Dean, The Rev. Dr. Jack Gabig, also shared his excitement about The Rev. Banfield Hicks’s appointment, stating, “Alex brings much to the team. I believe his wit, warmth, energy, enthusiasm, and love for Trinity will draw many to come and share in the good things the Lord is doing amongst us.”

The Rev. Alex Banfield Hicks has a Master of Divinity degree from Covenant Theological Seminary, a Master of Studies in Modern History degree from the University of Oxford, Merton College, and a Postgraduate Certificate of Education from the University of Bristol. He began his Doctor of Ministry here earlier this year.

The entire Trinity community looks forward to warmly welcoming The Rev. Banfield Hicks in September and looks forward to his contributions in shaping future generations of servant-leaders in the church.
