The Christian doctrine of Creation is one of the most contested doctrines of the modern era. But arguments with the natural sciences can distract us from the Bible’s narrative of God’s creation and redemption of the world, and disconnect that narrative from the life of the Church. This Conference will explore the biblical narrative of creation, its significance for the historic Church, and its implications for the worship and mission of the Church today.

Forty years ago, Robert Webber published Common Roots: A Call to Evangelical Maturity, which urged modern Christians to recover their historic Christian legacy. Webber (with others) is widely credited with launching the subsequent retrieval movement of ancient Christian faith and practice. This conference will both celebrate and assess this forty-year movement: what modern Christians have learned, how it has changed our religious landscape, and what its future implications may be.
This conference was co-sponsored by the Christian History Institute. All attendees received a complimentary print copy of Christian History Magazine’s “Recovery from Modern Amnesia: Ancient Practices for a Faith-Full Future.”
