BS - 2010, North Carolina State University

Associate Dean of Special Programs

Director, Robert Webber Center

Dr. Alex Fogleman's calling centers on helping Christians integrate diligent learning with deep faith. He has written mainly on early Christian theology, especially the writings of Gregory of Nyssa and Augustine of Hippo, and he is passionate about retrieving the wisdom of early Christian catechesis for the renewal of the church today. He is the author of several books, most recently, Making Disciples: Catechesis in History, Theology, and Practice (Eerdmans, 2025).

Before coming to Trinity, Alex completed his MDiv at Regent College (Vancouver, BC) and his doctoral work at Baylor University, where he wrote on the development of catechesis in the early church and founded a nonprofit ministry called the Catechesis Institute. Currently, he serves as chair the ACNA's Catechesis Task Force and vice-chair of the Society of Anglican Theologians.

As Director of the Doctor of Ministry Program and the Robert E. Webber Center, Dr. Fogleman champions learning as lifelong discipleship. What he values most about Trinity is its shared life of study, prayer, and community—a simple but deeply formative common rule of life that forms the heart of this unique community. His hope for students is that they grow in the knowledge and love of God and neighbor, seeing intellectual, spiritual, and moral knowledge as deeply intertwined. Alex is married to Molly, and they have four energetic young boys.
