Director of the Portuguese Academic Program

The Rev. Gustavo Castello Branco's journey with Trinity started nearly two decades ago. Ordained as a deacon in the Diocese of Recife, Brazil in 2005, he came to Ambridge to earn his Master of Arts in Religion in 2007. Even then, he was dreaming about how Trinity could help strengthen theological education for Anglican leaders in Brazil. Seventeen years later, that dream became reality when he was invited to direct the new Portuguese-Speaking Program of the International Pathways Initiative.

Before returning to Trinity, Gustavo traded a law career for ministry, planted the first Anglican church in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, served as rector of a parish in Paraíba, and spent years as a professor and director of distance learning theology at Faculdade Internacional Cidade Viva in Brazil. He's currently pursuing his Doctor of Ministry at Trinity.

Ask him what Trinity feels like and he'll paint a picture: finishing morning prayer at chapel, grabbing a cup of coffee, and heading to class. That rhythm, the combination of rigorous academics, mission-oriented teaching, pastoral care, and daily liturgy, is what he hopes every student gets shaped by. His vision is that Trinity graduates learn to interpret all of reality from, in, and through Christ. When he's not on campus, he loves going to the beach back home in Brazil, listening to good music, and traveling with his wife and kids.
