Be equipped for diaconal service rooted in Scripture, Anglican theology, and the Prayer Book tradition. The Diploma in Diaconal Studies is an 18‑credit, master’s‑level program across six courses; credits may be applied toward the MAR or MDiv. A non‑credit Certificate option enrolls you in the same courses with tiered expectations and pass/fail grading; Certificate courses do not apply to a master’s degree.

The Rev. Dr. Jukka Kääriäinen

President of the North American Lutheran Seminary

Beginning your journey

Greetings! My name is Jukka, and I am the president of the North American Lutheran Seminary. This is an exciting time to be a follower of Christ. Whether you are exploring vocational ministry, wanting to visit our NALS hub campus in Ambridge, PA, or preparing to apply as a student, our NALS team is here to help you discern God’s calling.

While confessionally Lutheran, we are generous toward other traditions within the Great Tradition and seek to form pastors, deacons, and servants for the Church who love the Lord, His Word, and His people. We would love to hear from you and discuss how we might partner with you.
