Complete your MDiv fully in residence at our Ambridge campus. Join a welcoming community shaped by daily worship and shared learning. Most students take 4–5 courses each fall and spring term, may add January and June Intensives, and graduate in 3–4 years of full‑time study.

Remain in your ministry context while you study. Up to 70 credits can be completed online, many in partnership with a local mentor, allowing you to apply classroom learning directly in your church and access our online library resources. A residential requirement of 24 credits—about one year of full‑time study—can be met during fall or spring terms in Ambridge or through January and June Intensives. Students typically take 1–2 courses per term across fall, spring, and summer, and finish in 5–7 years of part‑time study.

A foundational introduction to the Christian Scriptures that traces the whole biblical drama—from creation to new creation—while clarifying the Bible’s central theological themes and locating each book within its historical setting. You will engage key moments in the canon, learn how the Old and New Testaments speak to one another, and practice sound methods of interpretation rooted in the Anglican tradition. Along the way, the course equips you with contemporary hermeneutical tools and habits of reading that are faithful, practical, and pastorally wise.

A continued, skills-focused study of Biblical Hebrew that strengthens core grammar and vocabulary, expands syntactical awareness, and develops confident translation through graded readings. Students will practice parsing, recognize common verbal stems and forms, and build fluency with narrative and poetry from the Old Testament—all with clear, accessible guidance that serves careful exegesis and ministry use.

A continuation of New Testament Greek that consolidates core morphology and syntax while steadily expanding vocabulary. Through guided translation of selected passages, you will strengthen parsing skills, internalize common constructions, and cultivate sustainable sight‑reading habits. The course emphasizes responsible use of lexical and grammatical tools so that your reading moves from word-by-word decoding to clear, contextual comprehension in service of faithful exegesis and ministry.

A focused seminar on the Book of Concord as the Lutheran Church’s public confession, engaging the historical setting of each document, its central theological claims, and its pastoral purpose. Students will read the catechisms and confessional writings closely, trace themes such as justification, Word and sacrament, ecclesiology, and vocation, and consider how these texts function ecumenically. The course frames Lutheran confessional theology within the wider Christian tradition, inviting constructive dialogue with Anglican doctrine and practice for faithful ministry in parish life.

A continued study in systematic theology that moves from the doctrine of creation and the fall to the saving work of the Holy Spirit in the life of the Church. You will explore how God’s good creation, human sin, and the grace of redemption cohere in Christ, then trace the Spirit’s work through the Church’s worship and witness—Word and sacrament, justification and sanctification, new life in the Spirit, and the hope of the Last Things. Bringing Scripture, creed, and Anglican formularies into conversation with pastoral practice, the course integrates doctrine with discipleship for the church and the world.

An introduction to the New Testament that situates the Gospels, Acts, Epistles, and Revelation within their Second Temple backgrounds, traces major themes across the canon, and articulates how biblical theology centers on the person and work of Jesus Christ. An overview of catechesis through the lenses of practical theology and spiritual formation, uniting sound doctrine with lived devotion. You will study theological and pedagogical principles for forming disciples, engage classic Anglican practices that shape heart and habit, and connect teaching to daily life through guided rhythms of prayer, Scripture, and service. The course frames faith development as growth into Christ’s likeness for the sake of others, equipping you to cultivate a parish culture where belief, worship, and love mature together.
An integrative study of Christian leadership that brings Scripture and theology into conversation with missiology and the best of psychological insight. The course traces biblical patterns of shepherding and service, articulates a theology of vocation and gifts for the whole body, and examines mission-shaped leadership within parish and neighborhood. Through case studies and guided practice, students connect conviction to competence—learning how character, calling, and community shape leaders who serve the Church and the world with clarity and care.

A seminar tracing Martin Luther’s journey from Augustinian monk to reformer, integrating his theology with ministry practice and spiritual disciplines. You will read Luther in context—monastic formation, pastoral work in Wittenberg, preaching and catechesis—and follow how Scripture, justification by faith, and the primacy of Word and sacrament reshaped his life and the church. The course evaluates major controversies and councils, examines key confessions and catechisms, and considers Luther’s legacy for worship, preaching, pastoral care, and parish renewal today—engaging his insights with Anglican commitments to Scripture, creed, and common prayer.
An introduction to the biblical, theological, and historical foundations of world mission that moves from Scripture to practice. You will trace the mission of God from Israel to the Church, survey key moments in global mission history, and develop a theologically grounded vision for evangelism, cross‑cultural ministry, and partnership with the persecuted church. With accessible, hands‑on guidance, the course engages dialogue across faiths, unreached peoples, justice and mercy, spiritual warfare, and the vital role of the local parish in sending, supporting, and sustaining mission.
A practical, ministry‑lab course in local mission that equips students for evangelism and church planting. Grounded in Scripture and the Anglican tradition, the course blends clear instruction with hands‑on practice: crafting gospel conversations, mapping communities, forming mission teams, discerning planting models, and integrating evangelism into parish rhythms. Students engage case studies, peer feedback, and real‑world exercises that connect doctrine to discipleship, worship, and the everyday life of the church.
